Roman Mosaics

As part of our Roman topic term years 3 and 4 looked at various examples of Roman mosaics. We then used large templates to create our own. the children in year 4 cut their own square tiles shapes from coloured paper. For year 3 to cut down on time, I provided them with pre-cut squares but this depends on the ability of your class.

I used this lesson as an opportunity to get the children to think about colour choice using analogues and complimentary colours to complete their designs. I found some great resource in Twinkl for generating ideas for Roman mosaics click here
